The first Adriatic Race was sailed in 1947, organized by the Sports Section of Shipping, which is operated under the Commission of Technology and Sport. It was a ten-day race that was sailed in stages: Split-Hvar-Korcula-Dubrovnik-Prapatno-Trsteno, and back again over Hvar and Korcula to Split. It was really an adventure to pass this 450 miles at that time, because the types of ships which it sailed from the Adriatic Sea has disappeared long time ago. Most of these were small wooden sailboats such as L-5 (national class) or a little longer Dragons, and the race would be gathered over a hundred.
